Why consider the MINT PDO Thread lift ?
Mint PDO Thread Lift is a natural face lift and skin tightening treatment without downtime.
Over time, our skin grows lax and we start suffering from fine lines, wrinkles, jowls, sagging skin, and other issues. Cosmetic facelifts can tighten your skin and make you look younger, but if you are not ready to go under the knife there is another option that lifts your face and gives you back a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance.
Mint PDO thread lifts are an alternative to traditional facelifts. They restore the youthful facial appearance and reduce the signs of aging without surgeries, incisions or an extended downtime. A Mint PDO thread lift repositions the underlying tissues to soften your facial features, producing longer results than dermal fillers, and without complicated surgeries.
It will improve your facial structure, giving you similar benefits to a facelift but without the need for surgery and general anaesthetic. It is a minor non-invasive procedure using fine threads that “lift” your skin, increase elasticity and are completely absorbed. At Laserase we use PDO threads (polydioxanone) which has been used for suturing for over 30 years.
Thread lifting is a safe and effective technique, which is achieved in 3 ways:
Mechanical Lifting: This is an instant lift through the mechanical mechanism of the threads engaging with the skin.
Skin Tightening: The threads are collagen stimulators. The action of thread placement and the thread itself stimulates your cells to produce more Type 3 Collagen. Type 3 collagen contracts to create tightening and slimming of the face.
Rejuvenation: The threads stimulate production of collagen and increased neovascularisation and cell renewal which provides noticeable skin rejuvenation. The quality of the skin, fine lines and elasticity of the skin will improve with this procedure.
MINT PDO threads are biodegradable, about 6-8 months after the procedure the PDO threads will dissolve but the lifting effect will remain for a further 6 months due to the new collagen formation, cell rejuvenation and skin tightening effects. Unfortunately, as the ageing process continues, most people will require repeat thread lifting.
Typical cost is from £1200 for a full face treatment.

MINT PDO THREADS FAQs
+ What are MINT PDO Threads?
PDO is a short form of the word “polydioxanone.” Polydioxanone is an absorbable, complex sugar polymer that is flexible and durable. PDO threads are safe, dissolvable sutures that are inserted under the skin and into the facial tissues to lift sagging skin and achieve a firmer, more youthful look.
MINT stands for Minimally Invasive Non-surgical Thread. MINT PDO threads have been used successfully in orthopedic and cardiovascular surgeries for over 30 years. They are a superior PDO thread because they are stronger and can lift more successfully. MINT PDO threads have patented, molded barbs that retain their anchoring strength on the underlying facial tissue, providing a longer-lasting result.
Because MINT PDO threads have a stronger lifting power compared to other PDO threads, they can most effectively provide a non-surgical facelift and restore a more youthful facial V shape.
+ How do the threads work?
Threads are dissolvable stitches that promote collagen and elastin production. PDO threads have etched or coned structures that enable it to hook into and lift the tissue beneath the skin. The material from which the thread is made then stimulates collagen production in the skin. PDO threading operates in three ways: Mechanical Lifting: This is an instant lift through the mechanical mechanism of the threads engaging with the skin.
It is a bit more involved than a filler treatment but with more advanced results.
+ How long does a MINT PDO Thread lift last?
The effect lasts 6-12 months, depending on age, lifestyle and skin condition. Results generally last longer in people who take care of their skin and general health by avoiding the sun, attention to a healthy diet and not smoking.

+ What shall I do after my PDO Thread Lift?
At your consultation with Dr Rebecca Hierons she will discuss in depth the aftercare with PDO Threading which you will have to follow after your procedure.
Any movement in the treated areas will decrease the overall results of the PDO thread lift and so it is important to avoid exercise for 7-14 days aside from gentle walks. You will also need to sleep on your back for 5 nights and you are likely to have obvious marks on the face for around 5 days after the treatment so we advise you may want to avoid social activities during this period.
+ What are the side effects?
Some swelling and bruising are common after a thread lift and typically last 3-21 days.
+ What is the recovery from a MINT PDO Thread Lift?
The face will normally feel very tight immediately after treatment and this can cause some discomfort when eating for example for the first 24 hours. Pain-killers are normally required after MINT threads for 48 hours. You can expect the area treated to be tender for several weeks after treatment.
Recovery from the point of view of ‘looking like you have had a thread lift’ with some puckering of the skin, and swelling normally lasts for 7 days. Full recovery depends on the number of threads you require and your propensity for swelling - meaning full recovery can take up to 6 weeks.
+ Can PDO threads lift the jowels?
Yes, PDO threading is effective in lifting jowls and addressing sagging in the lower face. The threads can be strategically placed to target the jowls, providing a noticeable improvement in jawline definition and overall facial contour.
